Jay Freeman is the Founder and Managing Partner of BlackView Capital Advisors, where he leads the firm’s investment and value-creation strategy focused on building and scaling undervalued middle-market companies into enduring market leading enterprises.
A founder-investor and strategic architect with over a decade of experience across private equity, restructuring, and strategic transformation, Jay combines the precision of an operator with the foresight of an investor. His work integrates capital discipline, operational excellence, strategic clarity, and technological enablement, the foundation of BlackView’s proprietary C.O.S.T. - Capital, Operations, Strategy, Technology framework.
Before transitioning BlackView from a consulting firm into an asset manager, Jay served as a senior advisor in Accenture’s Private Equity Value Creation Group, where he helped design and execute value-creation plans for top global private equity firms and their portfolio companies. His earlier experience includes serving as a turnaround and restructuring advisor at Ankura Consulting, where he played a key role in the restructuring of Payless ShoeSource, one of the largest retail bankruptcies in U.S. history.
Prior to Ankura, Jay founded BlackView as a strategic advisory firm specializing in corporate finance, capital raising, and deal origination for start-ups and middle-market companies, work that laid the foundation for the firm’s current investment philosophy.
Earlier in his career, Jay held roles at UBS and The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), where he worked on the wind-down and restructuring of structured credit and mortgage-backed securities portfolios, and evaluated industrial, automotive, and manufacturing investments for a $2B+ credit portfolio. He began his career at Black Opal Equity, a lower middle-market private equity firm focused on special situations and growth investments.
At BlackView, Jay’s investment and advisory work is guided by his proprietary systems, V.A.S.T. - Value, Active Control, Special Situations, and Turnaround, reflecting his expertise in building value under constraint and his B.O.A.R.D. Framework: Best Practices, Operating Cadence, Accountability, Risk Management and Develop Talent, a governance and leadership model to institutionalize excellence and alignment at the board or executive level.
Beyond investing, Jay also serves as Chairman of the Board for the Coalition for Food and Health Equity, where he champions initiatives that strengthen economic and social resilience in underserved communities.
He holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and is recognized for his ability to bridge capital and culture, building companies and communities that outperform with purpose, precision, and permanence.
